The ADP165/ADP166 are ultralow quiescent current, low dropout (LDO) linear regulators operating from 2.2 V to 5.5 V with output currents up to 150 mA. The dropout voltage is only 120 mV at 150 mA load; the low dropout characteristic not only improves efficiency but also allows the devices to operate over a wide input voltage range. The ADP165/ADP166 are specifically designed to be stable with small 1 μF ±30% ceramic input and output capacitors, meeting the demands of high-performance, space-constrained applications. The ADP165/ADP166 offer seven fixed output voltage options ranging from 1.2 V to 3.3 V, plus one adjustable output option. The ADP165 includes a discharge resistor that automatically discharges the output when the LDO is disabled. The ADP166 does not include the output discharge function but is otherwise identical to the ADP165. Short-circuit and thermal overload protection circuits prevent damage to the devices under adverse conditions. The ADP165/ADP166 are available in compact 5-lead TSOT, 6-lead LFCSP, and 4-ball, 0.5 mm pitch WLCSP packages, providing the smallest footprint solution for a wide range of portable power applications.
