The ADuM141x are quad-channel digital isolators based on iCoupler technology. These isolation devices integrate high-speed CMOS with monolithic air-core transformer technology, delivering superior performance characteristics over alternative solutions such as optocouplers. iCoupler devices require no LEDs or photodiodes, eliminating the design challenges commonly associated with optocouplers. The simple iCoupler digital interface and stable performance characteristics resolve the typical optocoupler issues of uncertain current transfer ratio, nonlinear transfer function, and temperature and lifetime effects. These iCoupler products require no external drivers or other discrete components. Furthermore, at comparable signal data rates, iCoupler devices consume only 1/10 to 1/6 the power of optocouplers. The ADuM141x isolators provide four independent isolation channels, supporting multiple channel configurations and data rates up to 10 Mbps. All models operate from a 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply voltage, ensuring compatibility with low-voltage systems while enabling voltage translation across the isolation barrier. All devices feature a default output control pin, allowing users to define the logic state of the outputs when input power is absent. Unlike conventional optocouplers, the ADuM141x isolators incorporate a patented refresh feature that guarantees DC correctness in the absence of input logic transitions and under power-up/power-down conditions.
