The BQ25176M is an integrated 800mA linear solar charger suitable for single-cell lithium-ion, lithium-polymer, and lithium iron phosphate batteries. It features a continuous charging mode and battery tracking VINDPM. This device has a single power supply output for charging the battery. When the system load is connected in parallel with the battery, the charging current will be shared between the system and the battery. The device charges lithium-ion/lithium-polymer batteries in four stages: the trickle charge stage to bring the battery voltage to VBAT_SHORT; the pre-charge stage to recover a fully discharged battery; the constant-current fast charge stage to charge most of the battery's capacity; and the voltage regulation stage to fully charge the battery. During all charging stages, the internal control loop monitors the IC junction temperature. When it exceeds the internal temperature threshold TREG, it reduces the charging current. Both the charger power stage and the charging current sensing function are fully integrated. This charger features high-precision current and voltage regulation loop functions, charging status indication, and automatic charge termination. The charging voltage and fast charge current can be programmed via external resistors. The pre-charge and termination current thresholds are determined by the fast charge current setting.
