CP2119C is a single-channel toy DC motor driver IC designed for low-voltage systems. It employs an H-bridge driver architecture with integrated PMOS and NMOS power transistors featuring low output resistance. The low on-resistance minimizes power dissipation during continuous high-current operation, ensuring long-term stable performance. CP2119C integrates thermal protection: when a low-impedance motor stalls or an output short circuit occurs, the output current spikes sharply, causing a rapid rise in circuit power dissipation and chip temperature. Once the chip temperature exceeds the threshold set by the internal thermal protection circuit (typical value 130°C), the internal circuitry shuts down the built-in power switches to cut off the load current, preventing safety hazards such as smoking or ignition of the plastic package due to excessive temperature. The built-in thermal hysteresis circuit ensures the device must cool down to a safe temperature before normal operation is permitted to resume. The built-in short-circuit protection circuit effectively protects the IC from damage during output short-circuit conditions.
