Overview
The DRV110 device is a PWM current controller designed for solenoid valves. This device is intended to regulate the current through well-controlled waveforms, thereby reducing power loss. The solenoid valve current ramps up rapidly to ensure the normal opening of the valve or relay. After the initial rise, the solenoid valve current will maintain the peak value to ensure normal operation; thereafter, the current drops to a lower holding level to avoid overheating problems and reduce power loss. An external capacitor is used to set the peak current duration. External resistors can be used to separately set the peak and holding levels of the current ramp, as well as the PWM frequency. If the default values of the corresponding parameters are suitable for the application, there is even no need to use external setting resistors. The DRV110 device has an internal Zener diode, which can limit the input voltage to VZENER and is suitable for applications requiring a higher power supply voltage. With the internal Zener diode, the DRV110 allows power supply from 120V and 230V AC power sources through a rectifier and a current-limiting resistor. High DC voltages, such as 48V, can also be regulated in this way.
