PTH08T260/261W is the high input voltage (4.5V to 14V) version of the PTH04T260/261W (2.2V to 5.5V), rated as a 3A non-isolated power module. This regulator represents the second generation of PTH series power modules, featuring a smaller footprint and improved characteristics. The PTH08T261W is optimized for applications requiring all-ceramic capacitors. The PTH08T260/261W accepts an input voltage range of 4.5V to 14V and requires only a single resistor to set the output voltage to any value within the 0.69V to 5.5V range. The wide input voltage range makes the PTH08T260/261W particularly well-suited for advanced computing and server applications using 8V to 12V loosely regulated intermediate power distribution buses. In addition, the wide input voltage range increases design flexibility by supporting operation with 5V, 8V, or 12V tightly regulated intermediate bus architectures. The module features a comprehensive set of capabilities. Output overcurrent and over-temperature shutdown protect against most load faults. Differential remote sense ensures tight load regulation. Adjustable undervoltage lockout allows customization of the turn-on voltage threshold. Auto-Track™ sequencing is a popular feature that greatly simplifies simultaneous power-up and power-down of multiple modules in a power system. The PTH08T260/261W incorporates two patent-pending technologies: TurboTrans™ and SmartSync. The TurboTrans feature optimizes the regulator's transient response while reducing the amount of external output capacitance required to meet target voltage deviation specifications. Furthermore, for a given output capacitor bank, TurboTrans significantly improves the regulator's transient response by reducing peak voltage deviation. SmartSync allows the switching frequencies of multiple modules to be synchronized, simplifying EMI noise suppression and reducing the RMS current requirement of input capacitors. The double-sided SMT construction provides a low profile and compact footprint. Package options include lead-free (Pb-free) RoHS-compliant through-hole and surface-mount configurations.
