Overview
It consists of two line drivers, two line receivers, and a dual charge pump circuit, and features ±15kV ESD protection on a pin-to-pin basis (serial port connection pins, including GND). These devices provide an electrical interface between an asynchronous communication controller and a serial port connector. The charge pump and four small external capacitors support operation from a single 3V to 5.5V power supply. The device operates at a typical data signal transmission rate of up to 1 Mbit/s, with a driver output slew rate of 24V/μs to 150V/μs.
