The SN65LBC176A, SN65LBC176AQ, and SN75LBC176A differential bus transceivers are monolithic integrated circuits designed for bidirectional data communication over multipoint bus transmission lines. These devices are designed for balanced transmission lines and comply with ANSI standard TIA/EIA-485-A and ISO8482. Compared to their predecessors, the A versions offer higher switching performance without significantly increasing power consumption. The SN65LBC176A, SN65LBC176AQ, and SN75LBC176A integrate a three-state differential line driver and a differential-input line receiver, both operating from a single 5V supply. The driver and receiver feature active-high and active-low enable inputs, respectively, which can be externally connected together for use as a direction control. The driver differential outputs and receiver differential inputs are internally connected to form a differential I/O bus port, which presents minimum loading to the bus when the driver is disabled or VCC = 0. The port features a wide positive and negative common-mode voltage range, making these devices suitable for party-line applications. An ultralow device standby supply current can be achieved by disabling both the driver and receiver.
