Overview
The SN65LVDM31 integrates four differential line drivers that conform to the electrical characteristics of low-voltage differential signaling. This device provides a low-power alternative to 5-V PECL drivers with similar signal levels. Any one of the four current-mode drivers, when enabled via active-low or active-high enable inputs, can deliver a minimum differential output voltage swing of 540 mV into a 100-Ω load. The intended application of this device and signal technology is point-to-point and multiplexed baseband data transmission over a controlled-impedance medium of approximately 100 Ω. The transmission medium can be PCB traces, backplanes, or cables. The ultimate data transmission rate and distance depend on the attenuation characteristics of the medium and noise coupling from the environment. The SN65LVDM31 operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
