This octal buffer and line driver is specifically designed for low-voltage (3.3-V) VCC operation while providing TTL interface capability to 5-V system environments. The SN74LVTH244A is organized as two 4-bit line drivers with separate output-enable (OE) inputs. When OE is low, the device transmits data from the A inputs to the Y outputs. When OE is high, the outputs are in a high-impedance state. To ensure the high-impedance state during power-up or power-down, OE should be tied to VCC through a pullup resistor; the minimum value of the resistor is determined by the current-sinking capability of the driver. The device features an active bus-hold circuit that holds unused or floating data inputs at a valid logic level. The use of pullup or pulldown resistors with the bus-hold circuit is not recommended. The device fully supports live-insertion applications through the Ioff and power-up 3-state features. The Ioff circuit disables the outputs, preventing damaging current from backflowing through the device when it is powered down. The power-up 3-state circuit places the outputs in a high-impedance state during power-up and power-down, preventing driver contention.
