The SN55LBC176, SN65LBC176, SN65LBC176Q, and SN75LBC176 differential bus transceivers are monolithic integrated circuits designed for bidirectional data communication over multipoint bus transmission lines. These devices are designed for balanced transmission lines and comply with ANSI standard TIA/EIA-485-A (RS-485) and ISO8482:1987(E). The SN55LBC176, SN65LBC176, SN65LBC176Q, and SN75LBC176 devices integrate a three-state differential line driver and a differential-input line receiver, both operating from a single 5V supply. The driver and receiver have active-high and active-low enables, respectively, which can be connected together externally for use as a direction control. The driver differential outputs and receiver differential inputs are connected internally to form a differential I/O bus port, which provides minimum loading on the bus when the driver is disabled or when VCC = 0. This port features a wide positive and negative common-mode voltage range, making the device suitable for party-line applications. Lower device supply current can be achieved by disabling both the driver and receiver. These transceivers are suitable for ANSI standard TIA/EIA-485 (RS-485) and ISO8482 applications, provided they are operated within the conditions and characteristics specified in the Operating Conditions and Characteristics sections of this datasheet. The SN55LBC176 is rated for operation over the temperature range of −55°C to 125°C. The SN65LBC176 is rated for operation over the temperature range of −40°C to 85°C, the SN65LBC176Q is rated for operation over the temperature range of −40°C to 125°C, and the SN75LBC176 is rated for operation over the temperature range of 0°C to 70°C.
