The TJA1465 is a high-speed CAN transceiver that provides an interface between a Controller Area Network (CAN) or CAN Flexible Data-Rate (CAN FD) protocol controller and the physical two-wire CAN bus. The TJA1465 transceiver implements the CAN physical layer as defined in ISO 11898-2:2024 and SAE J2284-1 to SAE J2284-5, making it fully compatible with high-speed Classic CAN and CAN FD transceivers. The TJA1465 was developed in compliance with ISO 26262, achieving ASIL B. The device features extremely low power consumption in standby and sleep modes. It supports CAN partial networking via the selective wake functionality specified in ISO 11898-2:2024, making it ideal for CAN systems where only the necessary nodes need to be activated. Nodes not required for executing a function can be powered down to minimize system power consumption, even while CAN bus traffic is active. The TJA1465 includes an SPI interface for configuration, mode control, and diagnostics. The TJA1465B additionally features three general-purpose I/O pins (GPIO) and a CAN transmitter enable/disable input. The TJA1465 can be configured to ignore CAN FD and CAN XL frames while waiting for a valid wake-up frame. This partial networking add-on feature, known as CAN FD/XL passive, is well suited for networks supporting mixed Classic CAN, CAN FD, and CAN XL communication. In normal mode, the TJA1465 supports an external CAN protocol controller communicating in Classic CAN, CAN FD, or CAN XL in SIC mode without switching to fast mode (per Annex A of ISO 11898-2:2024). The TJA1465 features CAN Signal Improvement Capability (SIC) as defined in ISO 11898-2:2024. SIC significantly reduces signal ringing on the network, enabling reliable 2 Mbit/s and 5 Mbit/s CAN FD communication in larger, more complex topologies. Stringent bit-timing symmetry supports CAN FD communication at up to 8 Mbit/s.
