Overview
The TPS1100 is a single P-channel enhancement-mode MOSFET. Fabricated using a LinBiCMOS process, the device is optimized for 3V or 5V power distribution in battery-powered systems. With a maximum VGS(th) of -1.5V and IDSS of only 0.5μA, it is an ideal high-side switch for low-voltage portable battery management systems where extending battery life is the primary concern. Low rDS(on) and excellent AC characteristics (typical rise time of 10ns) make the TPS1100 a sound choice for low-voltage switching applications such as PWM controllers or power switches in motor/bridge drivers. The TSSOP (PW) version offers a smaller footprint and reduced height, making it suitable for applications where other P-channel MOSFETs cannot fit. This size advantage is particularly important when board space is limited and height constraints preclude the use of SOIC packages. Such applications include laptop computers, PDAs, mobile phones, and PCMCIA cards. For existing designs, the D package version features the same pinout as other P-channel MOSFETs in SOIC packages.
