TPS7A14 is a compact ultra-low dropout regulator (LDO) with excellent transient response. The device delivers 1A of output current with outstanding AC performance (load and line transient response). The input voltage range is 0.7V to 2.2V, and the output range is 0.5V to 2.0V, with up to 1% high accuracy over load, line, and temperature variations. The main power path runs through the IN pin, which can be connected to a supply as low as 50mV above the output voltage. All electrical characteristics — including excellent output voltage tolerance, transient response, and power supply rejection ratio — are specified at an input voltage 100mV above the output voltage, enabling high practical efficiency. The regulator supports very low input voltages by utilizing a higher externally supplied VBIAS rail to power the LDO's internal circuitry. For example, the IN pin supply can be the output of a high-efficiency DC/DC buck regulator, while the BIAS pin supply can be a rechargeable battery. The TPS7A14 features an active pull-down circuit that rapidly discharges the output when disabled and provides a known startup state. The TPS7A14 is available in a 2mm × 2mm, 6-pin WSON package and an ultra-compact 0.71mm × 1.16mm, 6-bump WCSP package.
