Overview

The TPS7E72 low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator is a low quiescent current device supporting a wide input voltage range of 3V to 30V. For the adjustable configuration, the wide output range is 1.2V to 28V; for the fixed configuration, this range is 1.8V to 12V, supporting load currents up to 300mA. The device features only 2.8μA quiescent current at no load, designed to power microcontrollers and other low-power loads in battery-powered applications. The TPS7E72 supports ±1.2% DC accuracy across the full line, load, and temperature range. The device responds quickly to line and load transients. With low quiescent current during regulation (typically 2.8μA) and controlled IQ maintained in dropout (typically 12μA at no-load dropout), it is dedicated to battery-powered or always-on systems requiring extremely low idle-state power consumption. The TPS7E72 supports a typical dropout voltage of 900mV at 300mA load current. The device incorporates built-in overcurrent, overtemperature, and overpower protection mechanisms to ensure reliable LDO operation. The TPS7E72 remains stable with output capacitances ranging from 4.7μF to 100μF.
