The TPS8268x is a complete DC/DC step-down power supply optimized for small solution size. The package integrates a switching regulator, inductor, and input/output capacitors. With all passive components integrated, it remains a miniature solution at only 6.7mm². The TPS8268x is based on a high-frequency synchronous buck DC-DC converter optimized for battery-powered portable applications requiring minimal solution size and profile. The TPS8268x is optimized for high switching frequency and low output voltage ripple, supporting load currents up to 1600mA. The device operates over an input voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V, supporting applications powered by Li-ion batteries and 5V or 3.3V rails. The TPS8268x operates at a 5.5MHz switching frequency with spread-spectrum capability. For noise-sensitive applications, this feature reduces noise on the regulated output and lowers input noise. The device supports fixed output voltages, eliminating the need for an external feedback network. With these features, along with high PSRR and AC load regulation performance, this device can replace linear regulators to achieve higher power conversion efficiency in the same footprint. The TPS8268x is available in a compact (2.3mm×2.9mm) low-profile BGA package, suitable for automated assembly using standard SMT equipment.
