Overview
The UCD90320U device is a 32-rail PMBus-addressable power sequencer and system manager, packaged in a 0.8mm pitch BGA package. The ULA molding compound is used to reduce soft errors caused by alpha particles. The device can detect single-event upsets (SEUs) by scanning the user-configured SRAM. Both features provide sufficient margin to offer higher reliability for applications. Twenty-four integrated ADC channels (AMONx) monitor power supply voltage, current, and temperature. Among the 84 GPIO pins, 8 can be used as digital monitors (DMONx), 32 can support power supplies (ENx), 24 are for margin adjustment (MARx), 16 are for logic GPOs, and 32 GPI pins are for cascading and system functions. The 32 ENx pins and 16 LGPOx pins can be configured as level-active drivers or open-drain outputs. The non-volatile event recording function can save fault events after a power outage. The black-box fault recording function saves the states of all power rails and I/O pins after the first fault occurs. With the cascading function, up to 128 voltage rails can be easily managed through a single SYNC_CLK pin connection. The FAULT pin can coordinate cascaded devices to make a synchronized response to faults. The pin-selectable power rail status function uses up to 3 GPI pins to control up to eight user-defined power states. These states can implement the system low-power modes listed in the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) specification. The TI Fusion Digital Power design software is a PC-based intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) that can configure, store, and monitor all system operating parameters.
