ISL8022IRZ

The ISL8022 is a high-efficiency, dual-channel synchronous step-down DC/DC regulator capable of delivering up to 2A/1.7A continuous output current per channel. The dual channels operate 180° out of phase to reduce input RMS current and EMI. Its 2.8V to 5.5V supply voltage range supports single-cell Li-Ion, three-cell NiMH, or regulated 5V inputs. The current-mode control architecture enables very low duty cycle operation at high frequencies, providing fast transient response and excellent loop stability. The device operates at a 2.25MHz switching frequency, allowing the use of small, low-cost inductors and capacitors. Each channel is optimized for output voltages as low as 0.6V. The device offers user-configurable operating modes: forced PWM mode and PFM/PWM mode. Forced PWM mode reduces noise and RFI, while PFM mode delivers high efficiency by reducing switching losses at light load. In PFM mode, the combined quiescent current of both channels is only 40μA, enabling high light-load efficiency to maximize battery life. The ISL8022 provides a 1ms power-good signal for monitoring the power-up status of both outputs. During shutdown, the device discharges the output capacitors. Additional features include internal digital soft-start, enable for power sequencing, overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown. The device is available in a 4mm×3mm 12-pin DFN package with a maximum height of 1mm. The complete converter occupies a board area of less than 1.8cm².
