The LM22671 switching regulator uses minimal external components to provide all the functions needed to implement a high-efficiency, high-voltage step-down regulator. This regulator is easy to use and integrates a 42V N-channel MOSFET switch capable of delivering up to 500 mA of load current. It features excellent line and load regulation along with high efficiency (>90%). Voltage-mode control provides a short minimum on-time, enabling the widest input-to-output voltage ratio. Internal loop compensation eliminates the tedious task of calculating loop compensation components. The regulator is available in both fixed 5V output and adjustable output voltage options. The default switching frequency is set at 500 kHz, allowing the use of small external components while providing good transient response. The frequency can also be adjusted over a range of 200 kHz to 1 MHz using a single external resistor. The internal oscillator can be synchronized to a system clock or to the oscillator of another regulator. A precision enable input allows optimized regulator control and system power sequencing. In shutdown mode, the regulator draws only 25 μA (typical) of quiescent current. Adjustable soft-start is available by selecting a single external capacitor. The LM22671 also incorporates thermal shutdown and current limiting to protect the device against accidental overload.
