The functional differences of the LM5008A are: a minimum input operating voltage of 6V, a slightly different on-time formula, and the removal of the minimum load current requirement. The LM5008A 350mA buck switching regulator incorporates all the features necessary to implement a low-cost, high-efficiency buck regulator. This high-voltage converter features an integrated 100V N-channel buck switch and operates over an input voltage range of 6V to 95V. The device is easy to implement and is available in an 8-pin VSSOP package and a thermally enhanced 8-pin WSON package. The converter employs a PWM control scheme in which the on-time is inversely proportional to V_IN, allowing the operating frequency to remain relatively constant. This control scheme requires no loop compensation. The device implements intelligent current limiting, with a forced off-time that is inversely proportional to V_OUT. This approach ensures short-circuit control while providing minimal foldback. Additional features include: thermal shutdown, V_CC undervoltage lockout, gate drive undervoltage lockout, maximum duty cycle limiter, and pre-charge switch.
