The LMR38015 synchronous buck converter is designed to regulate over a wide input voltage range, reducing the need for external surge suppression components. The LMR38015 can operate during input voltage droops as low as 4.2V, with duty cycle approaching 100% when necessary. With an absolute maximum input voltage of 85V, the device is well suited for wide-input industrial applications and MHEV/EV systems. The LMR38015 features a high-voltage enable pin that allows the device to be enabled by connecting it to the wide-input supply voltage or for precise UVLO control during startup and shutdown. A power-good flag with integrated filtering and delay provides accurate system status indication without the need for an external monitor. The device offers a pseudo-random spread spectrum option to minimize EMI. Switching frequency is configurable from 200kHz to 2.2MHz to avoid noise-sensitive frequency bands. In addition, frequency can be programmed via the RT pin to improve efficiency at lower operating frequencies or reduce design size at higher operating frequencies. The device features built-in protection functions including cycle-by-cycle current limiting, hiccup-mode short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown under excessive power dissipation. The LMR38015 is available in a 12-pin WSON package.
