The LMR51403 is a simple, easy-to-use wide-VIN synchronous buck converter capable of driving load currents up to 300mA. The device features a wide 4V to 42V input range, making it suitable for a variety of industrial applications requiring power regulation from unregulated sources. The LMR51403 operates at switching frequencies of 400kHz and 1.1MHz, enabling the use of smaller inductors to reduce design footprint. The LMR51403 offers pulse frequency modulation (PFM version) for high efficiency at light loads and forced pulse-width modulation (FPWM version) for constant-frequency operation with low output voltage ripple across the full load range. Soft-start and compensation circuitry are implemented internally to minimize the number of external components required. The device incorporates built-in protection features including cycle-by-cycle current limiting, discontinuous mode short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown under excessive power dissipation conditions.
