This device is a monolithic 10A synchronous buck converter with integrated MOSFETs, offering ease of use and high efficiency with minimal external components, making it well-suited for space-constrained power systems. The TPS51397A employs D-CAP3™ control, which requires only internal compensation to achieve fast transient response and excellent line and load regulation. The ULQ™ (Ultra-Low Quiescent current) feature is particularly beneficial for extending battery life during low-power operation. At lower input voltages, heavy-load operation provides significantly improved load transient performance. The MODE pin can be used to select Eco-mode™ or Silent™ (OOA) mode for light-load operation, as well as switching frequencies of 500kHz or 800kHz. Eco-mode™ maintains high efficiency during light-load operation. OOA mode keeps the switching frequency above the audible range while minimizing the impact on efficiency. This device supports both internal and external soft-start options. It features a fixed internal soft-start time of 1.2ms. If the application requires a longer soft-start time, an external capacitor can be connected to the external SS pin. The TPS51397A integrates a power-good indicator and features output discharge capability. It provides comprehensive protection including OVP, UVP, OCP, OTP, and UVLO. The device is available in a 20-pin 3.0mm × 3.0mm HotRod™ package, rated for a junction temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
