The TPS54202 is a 2A synchronous buck converter with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V. The device integrates two switching FETs and features internal loop compensation and a 5ms internal soft-start to reduce component count. By integrating MOSFETs in a SOT-23 package, the TPS54202 achieves high power density with a minimal PCB footprint. Advanced Eco-mode maximizes light-load efficiency and reduces power dissipation. Spread-spectrum operation is incorporated to improve EMI performance. Cycle-by-cycle current limiting on the high-side MOSFET protects the converter under overload conditions, enhanced by low-side MOSFET freewheeling current limiting to prevent current runaway. When the overcurrent duration exceeds a preset threshold, hiccup-mode protection is triggered.
