The TPS54418A is a full-featured 6V, 4A synchronous step-down current-mode converter with two integrated MOSFETs. The TPS54418A achieves a small design footprint by integrating MOSFETs to reduce external component count, implementing current-mode control, enabling switching frequencies up to 2MHz to reduce inductor size, and utilizing a compact 3mm×3mm thermally enhanced QFN package to minimize device package size. The TPS54418A provides accurate regulation with a voltage reference (V_REF) accuracy of ±1% across the full temperature range for a wide variety of loads. Efficiency is significantly improved through integrated 30mΩ MOSFETs and a typical supply current of 350μA. Shutdown current is reduced to 2μA by entering shutdown mode via the enable pin. UVLO is internally set at 2.6V but can be raised by setting the threshold through a resistor network on the enable pin. The output voltage startup ramp is controlled by the soft-start pin. An open-drain power-good signal indicates that the output is within 93% to 107% of its nominal voltage. Frequency foldback and thermal shutdown protect the device from damage under overcurrent conditions.
