The TPS6125xA device provides a power supply solution for battery-powered portable applications. With an input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V, it supports applications powered by lithium-ion batteries with an extended voltage range. Available fixed output voltage versions include 4.5V, 4.7V, 5V, and 5.2V. The TPS6125xA can deliver up to 1500mA of load current from a battery with a discharged voltage as low as 3V. The typical operating switching frequency of the TPS6125xA is 3.8MHz. The TPS6125xA can be flexibly configured for automatic PFM mode, forced PWM mode, or ultrasonic mode. Automatic PFM mode achieves high efficiency at light loads. Forced PWM mode maintains a constant switching frequency across the entire load range. Ultrasonic mode keeps the switching frequency above 25kHz under any load condition, thereby avoiding audible noise. The TPS6125xA features a built-in soft-start time of 600µs to prevent inrush current during startup. When the output is short-circuited, the device enters hiccup mode and automatically recovers once the short circuit is removed. During shutdown, the load is completely disconnected from the input, with a maximum quiescent current consumption of 1.3µA.
