TPS6218x is a dual-phase step-down DC-DC converter designed for thin power rails. It features peak current control with two-phase current balancing, making it suitable for height-constrained applications. The device offers a wide input voltage range of 4V to 15V, ideal for systems powered by multi-cell Li-ion batteries or a 12V power rail. The two phases deliver a continuous 6A output current (3A per phase), enabling the use of thin external components. The two phases operate out of phase, significantly reducing switching noise. The TPS6218x automatically enters power-save mode under ultra-light loads to maintain high efficiency, and also integrates an Automatic Efficiency Enhancement (AEE™) feature that operates across the full duty cycle range. The device supports a power-good signal and adjustable soft-start. Its typical quiescent current is 28μA, and it is capable of operating in 100% duty cycle mode without duty cycle limitations even at the minimum output voltage. The TPS6218x is available in both adjustable and fixed output voltage options, housed in a 24-bump, 0.5mm pitch DSBGA package.
