The TPS6223x-Q1 family is a high-frequency synchronous step-down DC-DC converter designed for battery-powered portable applications. It supports output currents up to 500mA, enabling the use of small, low-cost chip inductors and capacitors. The wide input voltage range of 2.05V to 6V allows the device to support applications powered by Li-ion batteries with an extended voltage range. The 2.05V minimum input voltage also enables use with primary lithium cells or 2-cell alkaline batteries. Fixed output voltage versions are available between 1.0V and 3.3V. The TPS6223x-Q1 family features a switching frequency of up to 3.8MHz. From moderate to heavy loads, the converter operates in PWM mode and automatically enters power-save mode at light load currents to maintain high efficiency across the full load current range. Thanks to its excellent PSRR and AC load regulation performance, this device is well suited to replace LDO regulators for improved power conversion efficiency. The TPS6223x-Q1 power-save mode reduces quiescent current consumption to 22μA during light-load operation. The device is optimized to achieve very low output voltage ripple and excellent AC load regulation even with small external components. For noise-sensitive applications, the device can be forced into PWM mode by pulling the MODE pin high. In shutdown mode, current consumption is reduced to less than 1μA. The TPS6223x-Q1 is available in a 1 × 1.5mm² 6-pin SON package.
