The TPS62650-Q1 is a high-frequency synchronous step-down DC-to-DC converter optimized for battery-powered portable applications. To meet the requirements of low-power applications, the TPS62650-Q1 supports load currents up to 800 mA while allowing the use of small, low-cost inductors and capacitors. This device is ideally suited for mobile phones and similar applications powered by a single-cell Li-Ion battery. With an adjustable output voltage range (scalable down to 0.75V via an I²C interface), this device supports low-voltage core power supplies for DSPs and processors in smartphones and handheld computers. The TPS62650-Q1 operates at a regulated 6MHz switching frequency and enters a frequency-optimized power-save mode at light load currents, maintaining high efficiency across the entire load current range. In shutdown mode, current consumption is reduced to less than 3.5μA. The serial interface is compatible with standard, fast/ultra-fast, and high-speed mode I²C specifications, enabling data transfer rates up to 3.4Mbps. This communication interface is used for dynamic voltage scaling — for example, stepping the voltage down in 12.5mV increments — to set the output voltage or reconfigure the operating mode (PFM/PWM or forced PWM).
