TPS63024 is a high-efficiency, low quiescent current buck-boost converter designed for applications where the input voltage can be higher or lower than the output voltage. In boost mode, the output current can reach up to 1.5A, while in buck mode, it can reach up to 3A. The maximum average current in the switch is limited to 3A (typical). TPS63024 automatically switches between buck and boost mode depending on the input voltage to regulate the output voltage across the entire input voltage range, ensuring seamless transition between the two modes. This buck-boost converter is based on a fixed-frequency, PWM controller using synchronous rectification for maximum efficiency. At low load currents, the converter enters power-save mode to maintain high efficiency across the entire load current range. A PFM/PWM pin allows the user to select between automatic PFM/PWM mode operation and forced PWM operation. During PWM mode, a fixed frequency of 2.5MHz is typically used. The output voltage can be programmed using an external resistor divider, or internally fixed on-chip. The converter can be disabled to minimize battery drain. During shutdown, the load is disconnected from the battery. This device is available in a 20-pin, 1.766mm×2.086mm, WCSP package.
