The TPS63710 is an inverting buck DC-DC converter that generates negative output voltages as low as -5.5 V. Depending on the ratio of input to output voltage, it can deliver up to 1 A of output current. Its filtered reference system provides low 1/f noise, which is essential for high-performance telecom systems. The TPS63710 operates with a fixed-frequency PWM control topology. It features internal current limiting and thermal shutdown. The 3.1 V to 14 V input voltage range makes the TPS63710 suitable for a wide range of applications requiring a negative output voltage generated from a higher absolute value positive input voltage. Synchronous rectification is particularly beneficial for high efficiency at small output voltages such as -1.8 V, which is commonly used as the negative supply voltage for high-performance DACs and ADCs. The fixed 1.5 MHz switching frequency allows the use of small external components and achieves a compact overall solution size. The TPS63710 is available in a 3 mm × 3 mm WSON package, providing excellent thermal dissipation for applications in high-temperature environments.
