Overview

Integrated wireless power receiver solution. The bq51013B device is a flexible, advanced single-chip secondary-side device suitable for wireless power transfer in portable applications, capable of providing up to 5W of power. The bq51013B device integrates the digital control required to comply with the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) Qi v1.2 communication protocol while providing receiver (RX) AC/DC power conversion and regulation. When combined with the bq50012A primary-side controller (or other Qi transmitters), the bq51013B enables a complete contactless power transfer system for wireless power solutions. Using the Qi v1.2 protocol, global feedback is established between the secondary side and the primary side to control the power transfer process. The bq51013B integrates a low-resistance synchronous rectifier, a low-dropout regulator, digital control, and precise voltage and current loops to ensure high efficiency and low power dissipation. The bq51013B also includes a digital controller to calculate the amount of power received by the mobile device (not exceeding the limits set by the WPC v1.2 standard). The controller then transmits this information to the transmitter (TX) so that the TX can determine if there are foreign objects within the magnetic interface and if the safety level within the magnetic field needs to be increased. This foreign object detection (FOD) method is part of the requirements in the WPC v1.2 specification.
