Overview
The 4054 is a constant-current/constant-voltage linear charger designed for single-cell lithium-ion batteries. Its minimal external circuitry makes it ideal for portable devices, compatible with both USB and adapter power sources. An integrated reverse-current protection circuit eliminates the need for an external blocking diode. A thermal feedback mechanism automatically adjusts the charge current to limit die temperature during high-power operation or in high-temperature environments. The full-charge voltage is 4.2V, and the charge current is programmable via an external resistor. When the charge current drops to the termination threshold, the IC automatically terminates charging. Once the input power is removed, the IC enters a low-current standby mode with a standby current as low as 5nA.
