TI MSP430F677x series multi-phase metering SoCs are powerful and highly integrated solutions for revenue meters. These solutions provide accurate metering and low system cost with few external components. The F677x series devices use a low-power MSP430 CPU with a 32-bit multiplier to perform all energy calculations, metering applications such as rate management, and communication with AMR and AMI modules. The F677x devices use TI's 24-bit Σ-Δ converter technology with an accuracy better than 0.1%. The family members include up to 512KB of single-cycle flash, 32KB of RAM supporting single-cycle access, and an LCD controller with up to 320-segment contrast control. The ultra-low power consumption attributes of the F677x devices mean that the system power supply can be minimized to reduce the overall cost. The lowest standby power means that the backup energy storage can be minimized, and critical data can be retained for a longer time in the event of a main power failure. The F677x series devices execute the TI energy measurement software library, which calculates all relevant energy and power results. The energy measurement software library is provided free of charge with the F677x devices. Industrial standard development tools and software platforms are also provided to accelerate the development of meters that comply with all ANSI and IEC standards globally.
