Power supply devices certified with USB Power Delivery (PD) 2.0. The source controller compliant with USB Type-C Version 1.2 can announce selectable voltages via pins: 5V, 12V and/or 20V (TPS25740); 5V, 9V and/or 15V (TPS25740A). Selectable peak power settings via pins: - 12 options, ranging from 15W to 100W (TPS25740) - 11 options, ranging from 15W to 81W (TPS25740A) High voltage and safety: - Integrated overvoltage, overcurrent, overheat protection and VBUS discharge. - With IEC 61000 - 4 - 2 protection on CC1 and CC2. - Input pin for fast shutdown in fault conditions. - External N-channel MOSFET control. - 2-pin external power control. The TPS25740 and TPS25740A implement a source controller compliant with USB Power Delivery 2.0 Version 1.2 and Type-C Version 1.2. The device can detect when a USB Type-C receiving device is connected by monitoring the CC pins, and then turn on VBUS by enabling the N-channel MOSFET gate driver. The device can provide up to three different voltages via USB Power Delivery and configure the announced voltage and current using four input pins (PSEL, HIPWR, PCTRL, and EN12V/EN9V). The device selects a suitable voltage from three power supply voltages using the CTL1 and CTL2 pins according to the voltage request of the connected receiving device. The device automatically discharges the VBUS output as required by USB PD. When no device is connected, the current consumption of the TPS25740/TPS25740A is typically 8.5μA (5.8μA at VDD = 3.3V). In addition, the power supply can be disabled via the port connection indicator (UFP) output when no device is connected, thereby saving more system power consumption. Protection features include overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, overheat protection, IEC protection on the CC pins, and a system override pin (GD) for disabling the gate driver.
