The TPS61256xC device provides a power solution optimized for battery-powered portable applications. Supporting up to 800mA load current from a single cell (discharge voltage as low as 2.65V), the TPS61256xC is designed for low-power applications and allows the use of low-cost chip inductors and capacitors. With a wide input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V, the device supports applications powered by Li-ion batteries of various voltages. Multiple fixed output voltage versions are available between 3.15V and 5.0V. The TPS61256xC operates at a regulated switching frequency of 3.5MHz and enters power-save mode at light load currents to maintain high efficiency across the full load current range. PFM mode reduces quiescent current to 37μA (typical) during light-load operation, extending battery life. In addition, the TPS61256xC device supports pass-through mode by pulling EN low. In this mode, the output voltage follows the input voltage, with voltage drop determined by the resistance of the inductor and high-side FET. The TPS61256xC minimizes the number of external components, resulting in a very compact solution size. It supports the use of small inductors and input capacitors to achieve a small solution footprint.
