The TPS65273V is a monolithic dual synchronous buck converter with a wide 4.5V to 18V input voltage range, capable of operating from 5V, 9V, 12V, or 15V bus voltages and from various battery chemistries. This converter is designed to allow engineers to optimize converter usage for the target application while simplifying device implementation. The TPS65273V features external feedback resistors for setting the initial startup voltage. The feedback voltage reference for this startup option is 0.6V. Once the VID DAC is updated via I²C, the buck converter switches the feedback resistors from external to internal. An I²C-controlled 7-bit VID can be used to set the output voltage of each buck converter in the range of 0.68V to 1.95V in 10mV steps. The TPS65273V supports I²C control for enabling/disabling output voltages, setting pulse skip mode, and reading power-good status and die temperature alarms. The switching frequency of this converter can be set between 200kHz and 1.6MHz using a single external resistor. The 2 converters feature a 180° phase-shifted clock signal. By floating the MODE pin, the two buck converters in the TPS65273V can be paralleled to deliver load currents up to 10A. Two-phase operation with current sharing reduces system filter capacitors and inductors, mitigates EMI, and improves output voltage ripple and noise. The TPS65273V features dedicated enable pins when the I²C interface is unavailable. Independent soft-start pins provide flexibility in power-up programmability. Constant-frequency peak current mode control simplifies compensation and delivers fast transient response. Cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection and discontinuous mode operation limit MOSFET power dissipation under short-circuit or overload fault conditions. Low-side reverse overcurrent protection also prevents excessive sink current from damaging the converter. The TPS65273V also features a light-load pulse skip mode (PSM), which can be controlled via I²C or MODE pin configuration. PSM reduces power losses on the system input supply for high efficiency at light loads. The TPS65273V is available in a 32-pin thermally enhanced HTSSOP (DAP) package and a 36-pin QFN 6mm × 6mm (RHH) package.
