SLM6400

The SLM6400 is a complete single-cell lithium-ion battery linear charger with constant-current/constant-voltage operation. The DFN-8L or ESOP8 package with an exposed thermal pad on the bottom, combined with a minimal external component count, makes the SLM6400 ideal for portable applications. The SLM6400 is compatible with both USB power supplies and adapter power sources. The internal PMOSFET architecture, along with reverse-charge protection circuitry, eliminates the need for an external isolation diode. Thermal feedback automatically adjusts the charge current to limit die temperature during high-power operation or elevated ambient temperature conditions. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, while the charge current can be set externally via a single resistor. When the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value after reaching the final float voltage, the SLM6400 automatically terminates the charge cycle. When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power) is removed, the SLM6400 automatically enters a low-current state, reducing battery leakage current to below 5uA. The SLM6400 can also be placed into shutdown mode when power is present, reducing input supply current to 60uA. Additional features of the SLM6400 include battery temperature monitoring, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two LED status pins for indicating charge and end-of-charge states.
